Caring for the Lagoon

A documentary on Mahorans protecting their lagoon

Synopsis: The magnificent lagoon of Mayotte, an island in the Indian Ocean, is at the very heart of local life. The Mahorans are aware of this and try to protect it. From the wooded mountain top to the mangrove and into the sea, we came across dedicated men, women and children, turtles and sea cucumbers, right down to the vibrant coral reefs shimmering below in the turquoise water. The lagoon of Mayotte is a cradle of hope : to build a future that will be environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. 26 international festival selections & 9 awards: - Bronze Award, Baku International Film Festival - Grand Prix of Ecology, Warsaw FilmAT Festival - Silver Award, Tourfilm Riga Festival - Golden Award nominee, Al Jazeera Documentary Film Festival - Cousteau Award, Lille Ecollywood Film Festival - Silver Award, Tehran Roshd International Film Festival - Best Environmental Film Award, Jahorina International Film Festival - Best Film on Natural & Cultural Heritage Preservation, European Environmental Film Festival - Golden Wave Award (Best Ecology Film), Silver Lake International Film Festival For more details, please visit:
